Release: November 6, 2007
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007-08 coaches preseason poll, the league announced Tuesday. The Bearcats, under first-year head coach Kevin Broadus, received 45 points, behind only Boston (61), Albany (55) and Vermont (50). There is a larger gap between Binghamton and fifth-place UMBC (33).
In addition to the poll, the coaches selected a five-man preseason all-conference team, and senior point guard Mike Gordon (Plainfield, N.J.) is among the players. Gordon led the league in steals and was a second team selection and all-defensive pick after last season. He averaged 10.9 points and 4.0 assists and won three games with final-possession heroics.
"Mike is a very good floor general," Broadus said. "He has picked up how I think and how I want things done. He knows how to share the game and make his teammates better."
Binghamton opens its season at St. Bonaventure on November 12. The Bearcats then host Quinnipiac in their home opener on November 14.
