VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton men's basketball will join the other eight America East schools in participating in the 10th Annual Sears BracketBusters series during the February 17-19 weekend. The three-day event features 142 teams from 16 conferences, with 13 games selected to be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
The Bearcats will play on the road and then receive a return home game against that non-conference foe during the 2012-13 season. The pairings will be announced on January 30.
It's the second time the Bearcats have entered in the BracketBusters series. In 2008, BU played at Manhattan and came away with a 66-56 win.
The 142-team field will feature teams from 16 conferences: 12 each from the Colonial Athletic Association, Mid-American Conference and Southland; 11 each from the Ohio Valley Conference and Big South; 10 each from the Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Missouri Valley and Summit League; nine each from the America East, Big Sky and Big West; eight from the Western Athletic Association; four from the Southern Conference; three from the MEAC; and two from the West Coast Conference.
Head coach Mark Macon, in his third season at the helm, welcomes back two starters and seven letterwinners as BU readies for its season, which opens November 12 at home against Colgate.
