HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Senior forward Greer Wright dropped in 27 points to lift Binghamton (1-0) to a 62-60 win over Colgate (0-1) in the season opener for both teams Saturday night from Cotterell Court. The see-saw game featured 21 lead changes, including 13 in the decisive second half.

Wright netted nine of his 20 second-half points points in the final 5:09 and the Bearcats survived a pair of Colgate attempts in the closing 10 seconds, including a potential game-winning three-pointer as the horn sounded.

Colgate led 54-53 with 5:39 left before Wright took over down the stretch. His explosive moves to the basket resulted in multiple trips to the free throw line, where he converted 7-of-9 in the final 5:09. A scooping Wright layup with 2:43 left pushed BU's lead to five, 61-56. But the Raiders cut it to one on a dunk with 53 seconds left and appeared to gain possession with 30 seconds left before a clutch play from senior forward Mahamoud Jabbi gave BU its final possession. After a miss from senior guard Chretien Lukusa, Colgate appeared to secure the rebound before Jabbi flew toward the baseline and batted the ball off the Raiders player to earn the possession. Wright was then intentionally fouled with 14 seconds left and made 1-of-2 for the final margin.

Wright hit 8-of-17 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the line. He added five rebounds and four assists. Junior center Kyrie Sutton, senior guard Chretien Lukusa and freshman forward Alex Ogundadegbe added nine points apiece. Ogundadegbe provided a key spark off the bench when Sutton was in foul trouble. The 6-foot-8 rookie hit 4-of-5 field goals and added two rebounds and a steal in 13 minutes of work.

Both teams were sluggish at the start, combining to miss nine of the game's first 11 shots. Wright and sophomore guared Jimmy Gray hit three-pointers during a 12-2 BU run that gave the Bearcats a 14-6 edge at the 12:06 mark. Ogundadegbe produced five points in a 36-second span late before the Raiders scored six of the final eight points of the half, including a buzzer-beating jumper by Mitch Rolls that gave the hosts a 30-29 led at intermission.

Sutton produced seven points, three rebounds and three blocks in the opening frame. Colgate forward Yaw Gyawu led all scorers with 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting.

The Bearcats travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to face Bucknell on Wednesday night.

The game christened BU's 10th season as a Division I program... The Bearcats have won three straight season openers and are now 5-5 in season openers at the Division I level.
