Heard named America East Conference Co-Player of the Week

VESTAL, N.Y. - Senior guard Andre Heard (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been named the America East Conference Co-Player of the Week for Jan. 8-14. He earned the honor by virtue of his performances in the Bearcats' two big road victories this past week.

Heard nailed 6-of-8 three-pointers en route to game-high 26 points as Binghamton knocked off Maine 71-53 last Thursday. He then scored 17 of the Bearcats’ 23 second-half points in a 48-47 win at Boston on Sunday. Heard is averaging 20.0 points in conference play and has accounted for 35 percent of Binghamton’s offense during its current four-game win streak.

"Andre played the best (back-to-back) games of anyone in my six years coaching here," head coach Al Walker said. "He especially played very well against one of the best defensive teams in the nation (Boston)."

Currently, Heard ranks second in the America East Conference with 16.6 points per game. He is a preseason all-conference pick and was named second-team all-conference last year.

Binghamton (7-9, 4-1 AE) is in sole possession of second place in the America East Conference. The Bearcats head to Hartford for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday.
