BU men's basketball player Hermenier named America East Player of Week
Senior captain coming off career-high 24-point performance against North Florida

America East release

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghatmon men's basketball senior forward Sebastian Hermenier (Rockville, Md.) has been named America East co-Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Hermenier and Hartford's Kenny Adeleke shared the honors.

The award is the first-ever conference honor for Hermenier, who tallied a career-high 24 points in BU's 71-64 win over North Florida on Saturday. In that game, he hit 9-of-10 shots and sank all five free throws. Hermenier also recorded 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Hermenier has now posted double-digit points in five consecutive games and has back-to-back double-doubles (points-rebounds). His 2005-06 scoring average of 13.1 is more than double his career average entering the season (5.5 pts. per game).

"Sebastian has been our most consistent player this season," head coach Al Walker said. "We're going to ride him. In crunch time, he said 'give me a chance and I'm going to get it done' - and he did."

Binghamton next travels to Albany for its conference opener Tuesday night. Tip-off time has been changed to 7:37 p.m. to accommodate a women's game beforehand and television (Time Warner Cable in Albany will broadcast the BU-Albany game).
