BU men's basketball coach Broadus suspended for one game

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton University director of athletics Joel Thirer has announced that he has completed a formal review of the events which transpired at the men's basketball game against University at Albany Wednesday night at the Events Center.

After careful consideration of all the available information and further consultation with America East Commissioner Patrick Nero, Thirer has decided to invoke a one-game suspension for Coach Kevin Broadus, and has issued him a formal reprimand for his involvement in a confrontation immediately following the game. Broadus will not be on the floor for Saturday afternoon's regular-season finale at Stony Brook.

"I regret my participation in any actions which might have brought negative attention to our team and to Binghamton University," Broadus said.

"I have spoken with University at Albany athletics director Lee McElroy and we are both committed to maintaining a mutual respect and healthy rivalry between our institutions," Thirer said.
