BU men's basketball forward Trifunovic named America East Rookie of the Week
Freshman honored for second time this season

America East Release

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball freshman forward Lazar Trifunovic (Belgrade, Serbia) has been selected as the America East Rookie of the Week for February 19-25. It is the second time Trifunovic has been honored by the conference this season.

In a pair of Bearcats victories last week, Trifunovic averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. He recorded a third straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against New Hampshire and then added 10 points and a team-high five assists in the win over Hartford.

He has produced six striaght double-figure point totals and has already set BU freshman records for total rebounds and points. His 188 rebounds are the second-most in the program's Division I tenure, behind the 206 recorded by Nick Billings in 2003-04.

Trifunovic ranks fourth in the America East in rebounding (6.4 rpg.) and 19th in scoring (10.8 ppg.).

Sixth-seeded Binghamton will meet third-seeded Boston University in the America East Championship quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. this Saturday at Boston's Agganis Arena.
