VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton men's basketball won't open its season on November 14 against former America East member Northeastern as originally scheduled, but will instead play an exhibition game against Buffalo State College at 7 p.m. in the Events Center. The Bearcats will then kick off their regular-season by hosting Mansfield on November 17.
"We were notified by Northeastern that they had double-booked that date," Director of Athletics Joel Thirer said. "These things happen and they have indicated they will meet their contracted financial obligation to us.
"However, due to the circumstances of the late notification by Northeastern, it left us in a difficult position to find a Division I opponent that fits into our schedule, which is already set. We are appreciative that Buffalo State has agreed to come here to play on the originally scheduled date, which gives our team and fans another home game."
The Bearcats will play 13 non-conference games - six at home. The 16-game America East slate will be announced in the next few weeks.
