Binghamton men's lacrosse loses 9-7 to No. 20 Albany

VESTAL, N.Y.--No. 20 Albany (5-2, 1-0 AE) scored three consecutive goals in the second half and held on for a 9-7 win at Binghamton (1-7, 0-1 AE) in an America East Conference game on Saturday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The loss is the third straight setback for the Bearcats.

In a game which featured four ties and three lead changes, Binghamton deadlocked the score at 6-6 on a goal by senior attack Johnny Baron with 8:59 left in the third quarter. Just 40 seconds later, however, junior midfielder Mark Cometti netted the go-ahead goal for the Great Danes. From there, it took Albany just 42 seconds to score again, this time on a goal by freshman midfielder Rocky Banitatibus.

The ensuing 19 minutes were scoreless until freshman midfielder Joe Resetarits netted his second goal of the game with just 3:40 remaining. Senior midfielder Duncan Streeten cut the deficit to 9-7 at the 1:18 but the Great Danes held on the rest of the way.

For Binghamton, Baron scored twice while sophomore attack Brian Donahue added two goals and an assist. Junior attack Andy Cook had a goal and two assists.

Binghamton outshot Albany 43-33 for the game.

Senior goalie Larry Kline made 10 saves.

The Bearcats head to No. 8 UMBC next Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
