men's lacrosse season ends with 11-6 loss at Albany
ALBANY, N.Y.-- Dave Brock scored three times and John Carroll
made 15 saves, leading host Albany (4-10, 3-2 AE) to a 11-6 win
over Binghamton (4-10, 1-4 AE) in the final regular season men's
lacrosse game of the season for both teams. With the loss, the
Bearcats' string of six consecutive appearances in the America
East Tournament comes to an end.
Senior midfielder Steve
Carlson and junior midfielder Frank
Donlon gave the Bearcats a 2-0 advantage with 6:15 left in
the first quarter. The Great Danes, however, answered with three
goals in the remainder of the opening period to go up 3-2. Jack
Reynolds scored twice during that span.
It was all Albany in the second quarter, as it outscored Binghamton
4-0. Derek Krenzer had a goal and an assist during that run.
The Bearcats held the Great Danes scoreless in the third quarter
and got goals from freshmen attackers Tyler
Perrelle and Matt
Springer, cutting the Great Dane lead to 7-4. In the opening
40 seconds of the fourth quarter, the Bearcats scored twice more,
cutting the deficit to 7-6. Ben

Donigan got the goals during that spurt.
Following an Albany timeout, Luke Cometti gave the Great Danes
an 8-6 lead with 13:30 left in regulation. Brandon Stork padded
the lead to 9-6 with 5:27 left. Brock then sealed the win with
two goals in the final three minutes of play.
The Great Danes outshot Binghamton 40-36 and held a 40-30 edge
in ground balls. Binghamton won 12 of the 21 faceoffs.
NOTES: Springer ends the season with a school-record 29
goals and ranked second all time with 42 points.
