Burns named assistant men's lacrosse coach

VESTAL, N.Y.--Kevin Burns has been named the assistant coach of the Binghamton men's lacrosse team. He arrives from Wagner, where he was the assistant coach during the 2004 season.

A 2003 graduate of Loyola (Md.), Burns was a defenseman for a squad that was ranked No. 1 in the nation during the 2000 season. Prior to arriving at Loyola, he played for West Genesee High School (located in the Syracuse area), a squad that won the state championship his junior season and was also ranked No. 1 in the nation.

"We are excited to have Kevin here," head coach Ed Stephenson said. "He has played for great coaches (Dave Cottle at Loyola and Mike Messere at West Genesee) and he knows what it is like to be part of an elite team."

"I'm looking forward to coaching at Binghamton," Burns said. "I am eager to learn from Ed and its great to be coming back home to New York."
