Binghamton men's lacrosse suffers 11-4 setback at Drexel

Box score

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- Colin Ambler had a goal and four assists, leading host Drexel (1-2) to an 11-4 win over Binghamton (0-3) on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's lacrosse game. The loss keeps the Bearcats winless for the first time after three games since 2007.

Both teams struck early and often as the game was deadlocked at 3-3 after one quarter. Sophomore attack Brian Donahue had two of the Bearcats' three goals. The second quarter belonged to Ambler who had a goal and an assist, leading the Dragons to a 5-3 lead at the half.

It was the third quarter, however, in which the Dragons blew the game open, scoring all five goals in the period and outshooting the Bearcats 15-3. Ambler notched a pair of assists during that span.

Junior midfielder Steve Carlson scored 2:31 into the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to 10-4. The Bearcats, however, would be held scoreless the rest of the way.

Senior goalie Larry Kline made 12 saves for the Bearcats.

The Dragons outshot Binghamton 36-25, won 12 of the 19 face offs and held a 43-29 advantage in ground balls.

Binghamton hosts Villanova on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
