men's lacrosse loses 12-7 to Drexel

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Kevin Stockel scored four goals and added an assist
while Dennis Adam added three goals, powering Drexel (3-1) to
a 12-7 win over Binghamton (1-3) in a non-conference men's lacrosse
game on Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The
loss was the third straight setback for the Bearcats.
Stockel had a goal and an assist in the opening quarter as Drexel
raced out to a 5-2 lead. From there, the Dragons showed no signs
of letting up and took an 8-3 advantage at the half.
In the third quarter, Stockel scored just 1:08 into the period,
giving Drexel its largest lead of the day. The Bearcats got the
next two goals over the ensuing 15 minutes of play but Stockel
made it 10-5 with 11:26 remaining in regulation. Each team scored
twice more during the rest of the fourth quarter.
Scott Perri added two goals and an assist for Drexel.
Freshman attack Matt
Springer led the Bearcats with a two goals. Fellow freshman
attack Tyler
Perrelle finished with a goal and two assists.
Binghamton outshot Drexel 34-28 but Mark Manos finished with
13 saves in the winning effort.
Up next for Binghamton is a 4 p.m. game on Tuesday at Cornell.
NOTES: Springer, who was the America East Player of the
Game, now has eight goals in his past two games. |
