Verkey honored by America East

VESTAL, N.Y. — Graduate student Andrew Verkey (Seneca Falls, N.Y.), who plays defense on the men’s lacrosse team, has received a pair of post-season accolades from the America East Conference. He was named second-team all-conference and was also selected to the all-rookie team.

In the Bearcats’ inaugural season, Verkey was one of team captains. He had a team-high 24 ground balls and scored a goal.

Verkey made history by becoming one of the first student-athletes in NCAA history to compete on all three Division levels. He played on the Binghamton basketball team when it was on the Division III level (1998) and the Division II level (1999-2001). This past season, the lacrosse team competed on the Division I level. Verkey was a team captain his final two seasons on the basketball team. In light of his historic feat, he was featured this season in the NCAA News and in several lacrosse publications.
