Binghamton men's lacrosse defeated by Hobart 12-5
GENEVA, N.Y.-- Junior attack Darryl Veltman scored a game-high four goals, leading Hobart (1-2) to a 12-5 win over Binghamton (0-2) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at McCooey Field.
Veltman scored two of his goals in the first half as the Statesman built a 3-1 advantage after two quarters of play. His final two goals came within a span of 1:59 in the fourth quarter. Hobart was nursing a 7-4 lead with 14:00 to play before Veltman scored at the 12:30 and 10:31 marks. From there, the Statesman scored two more unanswered goals in a span of five minutes to put the game out of reach.
Junior midfielder Sean Murphy and sophomore attack Jeff Colburn each added a pair of goals in the win.
For Binghamton, freshman midfielder Steve Carlson (Penn Yan, N.Y.) netted a career high two goals and added an assist while senior midfielder Nate Kerstein (Rochester, N.Y.) added a pair of goals. Sophomore attack Jake Boyce (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored his second goal in as many games.
Binghamton heads to Drexel on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game. Sophomore goalie Larry Kline (Beverly, Mass.) made a career-high 16 saves.
Hobart outshot Binghamton 41-25.
