lacrosse announces 2011 incoming class
VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team has announced
its incoming recruiting class. All 13 players will join the Bearcats
for the 2010-11 academic year.
"On behalf of the Binghamton University Lacrosse Program,
I am pleased to announce our fall 2010 incoming class,"
head coach Ed Stephenson said. "Our coaching staff is extremely
excited about the 13 student athletes that will be joining us
this fall. The class includes eleven players from the state of
New York along with one from Maryland as well as our first international
recruit coming from Canada.
From Long Island come midfielders Alex Doerflein (Rockville
Center, N.Y./ Southside), Kevin McDonough (Oakdale, N.Y./St.
Anthony's), defenders Greg Cove (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Southside)
and Josh Potter (Port Washington, N.Y./Port Washington)
and goalie Max Schefler (East Meadow, N.Y./ East Meadow).
Garrett Augustyn (Snyder, N.Y./Amherst) and Shawn Needham
(Hamburg, N.Y./ Hamburg) are both defenders from the Buffalo
Locally, the Bearcats landed a pair of attackmen in Kyle Bakker
(Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and Brandon Planck
Rounding out this year's incoming class are attackmen Michael
Antinozzi (Fallston, N.Y./ Fallston) and Kelly Donigan
(Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles), midfielder Jordan Trip
(Aurora, Ontario/St. Andrews) and defender Ed Kashmer (North
Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse).
"First and foremost, these are fine young men of strong
character and exceptional academic credentials," Stephenson
said. "We have a long established culture of academic excellence
in our program, and these incoming student-athletes will surely
add to it. This group is also gifted athletically and will no
doubt increase our depth, and raise our level of play. I am looking
forward to working them."
