Immediate Release: June 2, 2006 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 McKeown named USILA Scholar All-American VESTAL, N.Y.-- Senior goalie Kevin McKeown (Brewster, N.Y.) has been named a 2006 Scholar All-American by the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). He is just one of 19 Division I men's lacrosse players to receive the honor as well as the only person from the America East Conference. To be eligable for Scholar All-American honors, a player must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 and have been named an All-American during their career. McKeown, who was an honorable mention All-American his sophomore year, has been a consistent Dean's List student at Binghamton. Last month, he was honored with the SUNY Chancellor's Award for his outstanding accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom. "This is a great culmination to Kevin's career," head coach Ed Stephenson said. "He has meant so much to our program and has been an example both on and off the (playing) field." McKeown graduated last month with a degree in financial economics. |
