Binghamton men's lacrosse drops 10-7 conference game at Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Junior attack Bo Tripodi scored four goals and added an assist, leading Stony Brook (7-3, 2-2 AE) to a 10-7 win over Binghamton (3-8, 2-2 AE) in an America East Conference game on Saturday night at Lavelle Stadium. The loss marks the third straight setback for the Bearcats.
Senior attack Rob Williams (Fulton, N.Y.) matched Tripodi with a game-high four goals. He scored three consecutive goals in the third quarter as the Bearcats came back from an 8-2 deficit to trail just 9-7 entering the final quarter.
The Seawolves, however, padded the lead on goals by senior attack Sean Chamberlain and senior midfielder Ryan Maehr to take an 11-7 lead with 7:52 left in regulation. Chamberlain finished the game with three goals and two assists.
Freshman attack Jeff Rurey (Vestal, N.Y.) had a career-high two goals while sophomore attackmen Jake Boyce (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Chris Mulheron (Canandaigua, N.Y.) each dished out a pair of assists. Sophomore faceoff specialist J.P. Wioncek (Beverly, Mass.) won 13 of 23 draws.
Binghamton outshot Stony Brook 35-30 but senior goalkeeper Brendan Callahan came up with 15 saves.
The Bearcats conclude their regular season at home next Saturday at 3 p.m. against No. 2 Albany.
