Binghamton men's lacrosse loses 13-4 at No. 2 Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- Second-ranked Syracuse (5-1) scored seven unanswered goals to end the game, defeating Binghamton (1-6) 13-4 in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome. The game was televised locally by Time Warner Sports.

"We came out and played with a lot of heart," head coach Ed Stephenson said. "But that is one of the best teams in the country and one of the best offensive teams in the country."

Chris Daniello netted a game-high three goals for Syracuse. Kenny Nims and Stephen Kehoe each added two goals.

Senior attack Jake Boyce finished the day with a pair of goals. Senior midfielders Jonny Baron and Kevin Joy also scored for Binghamton.

The host Orange broke open a 3-3 tie with three goals in the final seven minutes of the second quarter. After Time Desko scored at the 6:04 mark, Keogh and Scott Kahoe each netted goals in a span of 42 seconds.

Boyce cut the deficit to 6-4 with 1:27 ellapsed in the third quarter. Syracuse, however, ripped off five straight goals to take a 11-4 lead into the final quater.

Daniello and Matt Abbott each added a goal in the last 15 minutes of regulation.

Senior goalie Larry Kline stopped 13 shots for the Bearcats.

Binghamton hosts Albany next Saturday at 7 p.m. in its America East Conference opener.
