Binghamton signs two state high school standouts

VESTAL, N.Y. — The Binghamton University men’s lacrosse team has received national letter of intents from Aaron LeFlair (Watertown, N.Y.) and Brian Chaapel (Penn Yan, N.Y.). They will join the Bearcats for the 2003 season.

LeFlair is a 6-1, 185-lb. midfielder from General Brown High School. He is a three-sport athlete, having earned all-league honors in lacrosse and football, as well as second-team all-league honors in ice hockey.

“Aaron is an all-around gifted athlete,” said Binghamton head coach Ed Stephenson. “When he comes here and lacrosse is his main sport, he’ll be an outstanding Division I player.”

Chaapel is a 6-0, 175-lb. attacker from Penn Yan High School, which won the 2001 Class C state title. He was named to the 2001 Class C, Section 5 all-tournament team.

“Brian comes from one of the one of the great lacrosse program in upstate New York,” said Stephenson. “He is not a stranger to big-time games. He is a clutch player with a knack for finding the goal.”
