MEN'S SOCCER DAILY UPDATE August 29, 2008 Opening Weekend Quotes from head coach Paul Marco and selected players as they prepare to face Duquesne and Lafayette at the West Virginia Tournament. The players arrived in Morgantown on Thursday evening and had a light training session the night before the season opener. Head Coach Paul Marco "I think we are well prepared. There is always great energy going into the first match of the season. This year we open up on the road against a (Duquesne) team that is quite good. It will be a good test for us to determine how much we have accomplished during preseason." "Duquesne presents some problems similar to us--they are quite good at going forward with the ball. They are well coached and well organized. Their back four are strong and their goalkeeper is very active." "The Lafayette match preparations will begin the moment we end against Duquesne. We'll watch their game (against West Virginia following the Binghamton-Duquesne game) and determine how we need to get ready to play them." "The results of this weekend are very important but just as important is the confidence level through the team and how well the team is actually performing. How much we are closing are performance-potential gap is very important. I'm pretty excited to watch us play. I am looking forward to kickoff on Friday." Senior midfielder Darren McAllister "Everybody is definitely up for this weekend. We are working hard in training and are trying to get a final few things together. This is a lot of people's last seasons here so were are optimistic and are ready to go." "It's huge to get off to a good start. You want to start the season on a high (note).
