West Virginia
Tournament Wrapup
Head
Coach Paul Marco's quotes following Binghamton's weekend at the
West Virginia Tournament. The Bearcats bounced back from a 2-1
loss against Duquesne on Friday to defeat Lafayette 2-1 on Sunday.
On the win over Lafayette:
"I though today
was an outstanding performance by our guys. Lafayette was very
good on Friday (against West Virginia) and we needed to get a
response out of our guys. That's exactly what we got.
On the play of the defense against Lafayette:
Our defense was solid. Stenta was very good (against Lafayette).
He caught a lot of crosses and only needed to make one save.
He was very good on Sunday."
"Defensively we were very good. Attacking-wise we were quite
good. We held the ball well. We moved the ball well. Just overall,
a very solid performance for our team."
On the play of freshmen Ryan Walter and Andy Tiedt, both of
whom started against Lafayette (Walter also started against Duquesne).
"Ryan (Walter) and Andy (Tiedt) grew a lot this weekend.
Both of them are realizing the demands of the game at this level.
I see them doing a little bit more as we progress through our
season."
On being able to use all of the players at some point during
the weekend:
"All of our guys got some
good minutes this weekend. Josh Sailar was pretty good (against
Duquesne). Joel Collins played a little bit, Chris Terry played
a little bit, Scott Zobre played good and Cody Germain came off
the bench today and played quite good. There wasn't much of a
drop off between our starters and our subs."
