DAILY UPDATE

Kudos to
the BU Women
While
the Binghamton Men's Soccer Team entered the 2008 season with
a veteran squad expected to contend for the America East title,
the women's team entered a rebuilding season under first-year
head coach Sarah McClellan. Having suffered through a rash of
injuries, it would have been understandable if the women's team
could be found preparing for offseason conditioning while the
America East semifinals took place this weekend. On Sunday night,
however, that team can be found in Stony Brook facing the Seawolves.
They're still standing.

Home Sweet
Home
For
the third consecutive season, the Bearcats concluded the regular
season without dropping a game at home. Binghamton went 5-0-1
and won all four conference games this year. Since Oct. 11, 2005,
the squad has gone 18-0-5 in regular season contests at home.
In addition, since Sept. 24, 2003 Bearcats have gone 30-2-15
at home in all games (including postseason).

Stony Brook
and Weather
For
the third straight year in a row, weather will play a factor
in the Binghamton-Stony Brook men's soccer team. The Bearcats
have won the past two meetings by 1-0 scores. Both times, heavy
wind and rain made for less than ideal conditions. With a cold
front currently in Binghamton, head coach Paul Marco and selected
players look ahead to the match against the Seawolves.

Full House
The
Binghamton men's soccer team has always considered itself a close
family but this season, 14 players have taken that concept to
a new level. They share a old office building in downtown Binghamton
and have turned it into a home away from the field.

Binghamton's
Number 9
Against
New Hampshire on Saturday night, Cameron
Keith added another
gem to his list of impressive performances during his two seasons
at Binghamton. In addition to recording his fourth career two-goal
game, he scored his eighth career game winner. In the spirit
of ESPN's Top Plays, here are Keith's Top Five games at Binghamton,
in reverse order (feedback is welcome to those who disagree):

Binghamton-New
Hampshire Wrap Up
Cameron Keith took matters into his own hands to
ensure that the graduation players had more to remember than
just their pregame ceremony. Not only was it his fourth career
multiple-goal game, but it was also the first time in Binghamton's
Division I history that a graduating player scored a pair of
goals on Senior Night.

Senior-itis
The Binghamton men's
soccer program will honor its nine graduating players prior to
the game against New Hampshire. Since 2002, Binghamton has gone
3-0-3 in Senior Day games. Having seen all six games, here is
my order of the most memorable matches.

Reaching
Out
Senior midfielder Justin
Leskow grew up in Endicott, New York and was a product of
the Endicott Public School System. On Friday, he and senior midfielder
Darren McAllister as well as junior forwards Cameron
Keith and Brendan McGovern made a trip to George F.
Johnson Elementary School, located in Endicott, to speak to the
students about making good choices. Leskow went to George H.
Nicols Elementary School from 1992-98 but his principal, as well
as many of his teachers, now work at George F. Johnson.

When Graham
Munro arrived on campus in the fall of 2002, he was immediately
put in charge of organizing and directing first-year head coach
Paul Marco's defense. They year before they Marco and Munro arrived,
Binghamton allowed a school record 51 goals and won just twice.
In just his first season, Munro helped the Bearcats slice their
goals against average in half and tripled the win total from
2001. His impact, however, went way beyond statistics.

Down to Baltimore
Binghamton
may be 3-1-0 and UMBC may be 0-3-1 but the Bearcats know that
records can be misleading. After grinding out a pair of 1-0 wins
over the Retrievers last season, head coach Paul Marco and his
players know what awaits them on Wednesday afternoon.

A Model
Student-Athlete
Whatever
Brendan McGovern is involved in, he keeps two things in mind:
Have a good attitude towards and make an impact in any way
possible. Looking at what he has done at Binghamton University,
he has certainly stayed true to his beliefs.

Since
2003, the Binghamton athletic department has arranged for a group

games of the season. On Saturday night, when Binghamton and Vermont
walk out to midfield for pregame introductions, they will be
escorted by the Broome County Celtic Pipes & Drums.

The Oneonta
Connection
Here's
a little known fact. Two of the Bearcats biggest fans are part
of the Oneonta men's soccer program, which also competes at the
Division I level. Jason Stenta's twin brother, Justin, played
three years for the Red Dragons while Kyle Manscuck's older brother,
Keith, completed a stellar career last season and is now completing
his academic coursework in Oneonta.

BU vs.
BU
Binghamton
renews perhaps its most storied rivalry (since joining the America
East Conference) when it heads to Boston on Saturday for a 1
p.m. match against the Terriers at Nickerson Field. In nine previous
matches, the two squads have gone into overtime six times. Three
times in the America East Tournament, the game was decided by
a penalty kick shootout.

for Everything
While
the Binghamton men's soccer season continues for at least another
month, Saturday's game up at Boston marks the final day on the
job for Sean O'Keefe, the team's athletic trainer for
the past four seasons. He has accepted a similar position with
the University of Maryland, where he will be the trainer for
the nationally-ranked Terps' men's soccer program.

A New Chapter
Binghamton
enters the America East portion of its schedule as the two-time
defending regular-season conference champions. The past two seasons,
however, the Bearcats have traveled very different paths to earning
the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Simply put, the
end of the non-conference schedule is the time teams move forward
and not look back.

in Men's Soccer History: October 6, 2007
For
weeks, the Binghamton Athletic Department had been preparing
for Oct. 6, 2007. On that Saturday night, the university would
formally dedicate the Bearcats Sports Complex before what was
expected to be a near-capacity crowd. The men's soccer team would
then open its America East title defense against longtime rival,
Boston University. Before the night was over, however, it would
be Cameron Keith who would truly christen the new complex.

Tuesday night's Binghamton-Maryland game, play was halted in
