Binghamton
plays to 1-1 against Syracuse in exhibition game
VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton
men's soccer team launched the 2008 campaign by battling to a
1-1 tie against Syracuse on Sunday night at the Bearcats Sports
Complex. A crowd of 406 took advantage of the opportunity to
get an advance look at the two-time defending America East Conference
regular season champions.
After playing to a scoreless tie in regulation, the two squads
played a 10-minute period during which each time scored a goal.
Freshman forward Andy Tiedt headed in a cross from freshman
back Joel Collins with 3:42 remaining. At the 1:00 mark,
however, junior forward Tom Perevegyencev deadlocked the score
off a pass from junior back Brien Chamney.
Junior goalkeeper Jason Stenta played the first 71 minutes
for the Bearcats before freshman Brian Abernethy subbed
in for the remaining 29 minutes of play.
Binghamton opens its regular season Aug. 29 against Duquesne
at the West Virginia Tournament. |
