men's soccer beats Boston University 2-1
VESTAL, N.Y.-- Freshman forward Jake
Keegan had a goal and an assist, powering Binghamton (7-5-1,
2-1-0 AE) to a 2-1 win over Boston University (7-5-2, 1-3-0 AE)
in an America East Conference game on Friday night at the Bearcats
Sports Complex. The game was televised nationally on FOX Soccer
"I am very proud of our team tonight," head coach Paul
Marco said. "It was a tight game which either team could
have won. We were able to get our goals in key moments."
Keegan opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he scored
an unassisted goal from close range. It was his team-high third
goal of the season.
Boston answered just four minutes later when Aaron O'Neal netted
his team-best ninth goal of the year. He took a pass from Michael
Bustamante, dribbled into the box and slid it into the lower
left corner of the goal.
The game stayed tied until the 63rd minute when Ryan
Walter netted his first career goal. Scott
Zobre broke and cross the ball to Keegan who then got the
ball to Walter who was stationed right outside the goal. Walter
finished the play by putting the ball between the goalkeeper's
legs and into the net.
Boston University held an 18-6 advantage in shots. Senior goalkeeper
Stenta made seven saves for the Bearcats.
Binghamton heads to Hartford for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
NOTES: Keegan and O'Neal were the America East Players
of the Game ... he three career points is a career high for Keegan.
