Binghamton men's soccer defeats Central Arkansas 2-0
HAMILTON, N.Y.-- Junior forward Cameron Keith and senior midfielder Darren McAllister each netted a first-half goal, leading Binghamton (2-1-1) to a 2-0 win over Central Arkansas (1-3-0) in the final day of the Colgate Raiders/adidas Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The win extends the Bearcats' unbeaten streak to three games.
"Today was a good day for us," head coach Paul Marco said. "It was a good victory, we saw a lot of guys play in the match and I liked the way the guys responded."
Keith, the 2007 America East Striker of the Year, got his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Freshman forward Andy Tiedt fed him the ball by the right post, catching Central Arkansas goalkeeper Greg Brooks out of position. Keith then chipped the ball in from four yards out.
In the 32nd minute, senior midfielder Justin Leskow sprinted down the left sideline and fired a cross toward the goal. McAllister was waiting for the ball and one-timed it into the net.
Binghamton outshot Central Arkansas 9-3 for the game. The Bearcats held an 8-2 shot advantage after the first half and were able to empty their bench during the second half.
Junior goalkeeper Jason Stenta did not need to make a save in recording his first shutout of the season and the 21st of his career.
Binghamton heads to the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Tournament next weekend. The Bearcats face the host squad at 8:30 p.m. EST.
