Binghamton men's soccer defeats Colgate 2-0

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder Matt Narode (Glenmont, N.Y.) recorded his third career two-goal game, powering Binghamton (10-3-0) to a 2-0 win over Colgate (6-4-2) in a non-conference men's soccer game on Tuesday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The victory is the Bearcats' fifth in their last six games.

Narode put the Bearcats ahead 1-0 just 7:22 into the game when he knocked in a deflected cross from junior midfielder Darren McAllister (Aberdeenshire, Scotland).
His second goal came when senior back Adam Chavez (Endicott, N.Y.) saved the ball from going over the endlines and then bicycle-kicked it off the goalkeeper. The ball landed by Narode who fired it home at the 26:32 mark of the first half.

Binghamton outshot Colgate 17-8 for the game, including 10-1 in the decisive opening half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jason Stenta (Binghamton, N.Y.) made a pair of saves to record his eighth shutout of the season.

Binghamton resumes America East Conference play with a 7 p.m. home game on Saturday against Maine.

NOTES: Binghamton has now won at least 10 games in four of the past five seasons ... the Bearcats are unbeaten in their last 18 home games, having gone 12-0-6 since Oct. 5, 2005 ... Narode currently ranks second on the team with three goals and third with seven points.
