Box Score

RICHMOND, Va. -- Duquesne's Drew Jeffrey scored in the 81st minute to break a 1-1 tie to lead the Dukes to a 3-1 victory over Binghamton men's soccer on the final day of action at the Nike Challenge Cup on Saturday evening. The loss drops BU to 5-2 overall on the season while Duquesne improves to 1-3-1.

The Dukes got on the board early as Stefan Lundberg recorded in his first goal of the season at the 12:39 mark. The score would remain that way through halftime and up into the 75th minute, when freshman Yusuf Yusuf (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) knocked in his own rebound to tie things up at 1-1.

Duquesne would respond quickly, however, as Jeffrey netted the eventual game-winner from 25 yards out a little more than six minutes after Yusuf's goal balanced the ledger for BU. The Dukes added another tally in the 87th minute to claim their first victory this season.

For the game, Binghamton outshot Duquesne 13-10 with the Dukes holding a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks.

BU sophomore goalkeeper Jason Stenta (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished the evening with one save to his credit, while Duquesne's Patrick Finnegan turned away seven Bearcat efforts.

Senior back Adam Chavez (Endicott, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Ryan Tomko (Homer, N.Y.) were both named to the Nike Challenge All-Tournament team.

Binghamton travels to Hartwick on Saturday, September 22 for a 7 p.m. contest.
