No. 20 Binghamton men's soccer defeats Duquesne 1-0 at St. Bonaventure Invitational

OLEAN, N.Y..-- Senior back Danilo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored his first goal of the season, leading No. 20 Binghamton (3-0-1) to a 1-0 win over Duquesne (1-1) in the opening round of the St. Bonaventure Invitational. The win was the third straight for the Bearcats, who have recorded a pair of shutouts so far this season.

Danilo converted the game-winning goal at the 60:06 mark of the game as her fired a shot from 15 yards out. Freshman midfielder Cody Germain (Glenmont, N.Y.) was credited with the assist.

In goal, redshirt sophomore Ryan Bertoni (Owego, N.Y.) made a career-high seven saves, including six alone in the second half, to record his second solo shutout of the season.

"It was good to finally get that first goal and Ryan played great in the second half," head coach Paul Marco said. "Duquesne is a good team who, like us, just missed out on the NCAA Tournament last year."

Binghamton outshot Duquesne 14-8 for the game but the shots were even at seven in the second half.

Binghamton plays the host Bonnies on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

NOTES: Germain now has three assists in his last two games ... Danilo now has a goal and an assist in his past two games.
