Immediate Release: September 10, 2006 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton men's soccer loses 1-0 in overtime at Florida Atlantic Game File BOCA RATON, Fla.-- Javier Carillo scored 4:13 into the first sudden-death overtime period, leading host Flordia Atlantic (2-3) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (1-4-2) in a non-conference men's soccer matchup on Sunday afternoon. The loss concludes a season-high, six-game road span for the Bearcats. The winning goal was set up on a cross by Ran Poliker from outside the penalty box. It was headed in by Carillo, giving the Owls their first win of the season as well as avenging a 4-2 Binghamton win back in 2001. The Bearcats outshot the Owls 9-6 for the game, including 8-1 in the second half. Phillip LaMarre made five saves in goal, however, to preserve the shutout. "We are disappointed with the loss," head coach Paul Marco said. "We need to take a good look at ourselves because regardless of the result today, we are underperforming as a team." Binghamton returns home for a 4 p.m. game against Lehigh on Wednesday at West Gym Field |
