Binghamton loses to Hartford 1-0

Box Score

VESTAL, N.Y. — Senior midfielder Asef Lubezky converted a penalty kick late in the second half, leading Hartford (5-7, 3-1 AE) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (4-8-1, 1-4 AE) in an America East Conference men’s soccer game on Wednesday afternoon. The game, which marked the Bearcats’ fourth straight setback, was played in a driving rainstorm.

Lubezky was awarded a penalty kick when a hand ball was called against Binghamton inside the penalty box. He then fired the shot to the right of junior goalkeeper Ian Wendel (Sparta, N.J.) , giving the visiting Hawks the only goal they would need.

Wendel made six saves for Binghamton while freshman goalkeeper Ryan Carr made seven for Hartford.

Binghamton continues its homestand against Colgate on Saturday at 3 p.m.
