men's soccer loses 2-1 at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CONN.--Carlos Villa scored the tiebreaking goal
in the 78th minute, leading Hartford (6-6-2, 3-1-1 AE) to a 2-1
win over Binghamton (7-6-1, 2-2-0 AE) in an America East game
on Wednesday night at Al Marzook Field. The loss is the Bearcats
second straight conference setback on the road.
Villa, who now has a team-best eight goals this season shot a
low ball past senior goalkeeper Jason
Stenta. James Stamopoulos was credited with the assist.
The night started out promising for Binghamton when freshman
forward Jake
Keegan, the current America East Rookie of the Week, netted
his team-high fourth goal of the season in the 11th minute. Hartford
finally struck back in the 40th minute on a goal by Ivan Gaurin.
Hartford dominated the shot count by an 18-6 margin and held
a 5-1 advantage in corners.
Binghamton heads to Vermont on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
NOTES: Keegan has now scored a goal in two consecutive
games. |
