Binghamton
men's soccer drops regular season finale 2-1 at Hartwick
Box
Score
ONEONTA, N.Y.-- Host Hartwick took advantage of an own goal late
in the first half, en route to a 2-1 win over Binghamton in a
non-conference men's soccer game on Tuesday evening at Elmore
Field. The Bearcats must now regroup for their first round America
East Conference Tournament game at home on Saturday against UMBC.
The Hawks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Patrick
Thompson finished off a cross from Konrad Anderson. In the 36th
minute, however, came what would be the decisive play of the
game. Simon Greatwich played the ball near the goal and a Bearcat
defender inadvertently knocked it into the net.
In the 54th minute, the Bearcats got on the board when junior
defender Kyle
Manscuk headed in a serve from junior back Yusuf
Yusuf. That would be, however, one of only three Binghamton
shots during the second half of play.
Hartwick outshot Binghamton 19-7 for the game.
Kickoff against the Retrievers on Saturday at the Bearcats Sports
Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.
NOTE: Binghamton last allowed an own goal at Maine on
Oct. 27, 2002 ... Manscuk now ranks second on the team with three
goals. |
