Bearcats lose to Howard 1-0 in overtime

Vestal, N.Y. — Ronald Goodlet scored on an indirect kick 5:43 into the first sudden-death overtime, lifting Howard (2-5) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (0-8) in men’s soccer action today. The loss marked the fifth time this season that the Bearcats have lost a game by a single goal.

The decisive play came when Binghamton was called for a foul just outside its own penalty box 5:20 into the sudden-death period. On the ensuing free kick, Goodlet blasted the ball from 15 yards out into the net.

Howard outshot Binghamton 18-6 in regulation but Binghamton sophomore goalie Ian Wendel (Spatra, N.J.) made four saves to force overtime. Two other shots by the Bison hit the crossbar.
