VESTAL, N.Y.--Junior forward Cameron
Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) has been named to the Missouri
Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy watch list for the upcoming men's
soccer season. He is one of 48 Division I players in the nation,
as well as the first-ever player from Binghamton, to be selected
for the list.
Considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer,
the recipients of the MAC's Hermann Trophy are selected by Division
I head coaches who are current members of the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America. A list of 15 semifinalists is
selected by a coaches committee in November, with three finalists
announced in early December. They will invited to the Missouri
Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., for a news conference on Jan.
9, 2009, where the winner will be announced, with a presentation
Keith was named the 2007 America East Conference Striker of the
Year and earned first-team NSCAA All-Region honors. He scored
a conference best 10 goals last season and ranked 18th among
all Division I players with 0.63 goals per game.
Binghamton, the two-time defending America East regular season
champions, opens up its 2008 campaign against Duquesne on Aug.
29 at 5 p.m. at the West Virginia Tournament. The Bearcats finished
14-6-0 last season.
