Men's Soccer
Bearcats fall to Lafayette

Vestal, N.Y. — Junior defender Paulo Coelho recorded his first career hat trick, leading Lafayette (5-1-1) to a 3-1 win over Binghamton (0-7) in men’s soccer action today. The two teams were originally scheduled to square off Sept. 15, but the game was postponed due to the national tragedy.

After a scoreless first half, the host Bearcats got on the board first when junior forward Ron Sanon (Woodmere, N.Y./ Lawrence) fired in a rebound shot at the 54:32 mark of the game. That lead, however, would last just a little under six minutes, as Coelho headed in a pass from teammate Keith Evans to deadlock the game at the 61:25 mark.

Coehlo drilled home the game winner at 77:59 from 15 yards out and added an insurance goal at the 86:55 mark.

Binghamton’s next game is on Sunday at home against Howard at 1 p.m.
