No. 20 Binghamton men's soccer upset 1-0 at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, Pa.--- Adam Williamson scored on a free kick, leading host Lehigh (3-1) to a 1-0 upset over No. 20 Binghamton (5-1-1) in men's soccer on Saturday night. The loss snaps the Bearcats' five-game winning streak as well as its three consecutive games without allowing a goal.
"We did not play well tongiht and I am very disappointed in the team," head coach Paul Marco said. "Lehigh was very well organized and they prepared for us well. Still, we lacked discipline and got a little complacent tonight and did not play with any urgency."
The goal by Williamson came at the 37:41 mark of the first half. The host Mountain Hawks outshot Binghamton 7-3 during the first half. The Bearcats had four corner kicks but could not convert the equalizer.
Things got even more frustrating for the Bearcats in the second half as they outshot Lehigh 11-3 but could not find the back of the net. The Bearcats even played a man up for the final 35 minutes when Jim Stevens of the Mountain Hawks received a red card.
Binghamton returns home to face Oneonta on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
