COLLEGE PARK, MD.- Freshman Matt Kassel scored a goal in the 78th minute to vault Maryland (7-2-0) over Binghamton (5-2-3) 1-0 in a non-conference match at Ludwig Field on Tuesday evening.

The Terrapins are currently ranked fourth in the nation in the NSCAA/adidas poll and sixth in the College Soccer News poll.

Kassel ripped a shot off of a rebound from about 25 yards away into the corner of the net with 11:59 remaining in the game.

Maryland out shot Binghamton 20-7.

The game was delayed halfway through the first half for over an hour due to lightning in the area.

Binghamton will begin the America East portion of their schedule with their conference opener at Albany on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

NOTE: Binghamton is currently receiving votes in both the NSCAA/adidas and College Soccer News polls.
