Men's Soccer
Bearcats fall to Niagara 2-1


Vestal, N.Y. — Visiting Niagara (1-4-1) scored two first-half goals in a span of 3:50 and went on to defeat host Binghamton (0-5) 2-1 in men’s soccer action today. The loss marks the third straight game that the Bearcats have been defeated by a single goal.

Chris Eyring got Niagara on the board at the 17:20 mark, as he tipped in a pass from teammate Jordan McMullen. At the 21:10 mark, Michael Burger extended the lead to 2-0, as he headed in a corner kick by teammate Adam Caruso.

The Bearcats struck back just 43 seconds into the second half on an unassisted goal by senior defender Michael Procknal (Williamsville, N.Y./ Williamsville), but could draw no closer. Binghamton outshot the Purple Eagles 13-8 but Niagara goalie Dan O’Shea made seven saves to preserve the win.

Binghamton’s next game is Saturday at Albany at 1 p.m.
