Men's soccer inks two local high school standouts

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton men's soccer team has announced the signing of two local high school seniors, both of whom have excelled with their high school team as well as at the club level. They will join the Bearcats for their rookie season this coming fall.

Tommy Moon (Endwell, N.Y.) is a midfielder from Maine-Endwell High School. As a senior, he was a fourth-team all-state selection by the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA). He scored a career-high 15 goals during the 2009 campaign. Moon was also named a Southern Tier Athletic Conference (STAC) All-Star four times and was a team captain his final two years. On the club level, Moon was a member of BC United Fusion, an Under-17 team which captured the 2009 New York State West Soccer Association Cup.

Luke Halberg (Norwich, N.Y.) is a forward from Valley Heights Christian Academy. He is a four-time Empire State Christian Association League soccer MVP and holds VHCA school soccer records in career goals (210) and assists (105). Like Moon, Hallberg was also a member of BC United Fusion, an under-17 team which captured the 2009 New York State West Soccer Association Cup.

"We are very happy that both Tommy and Luke have decided to come to Binghamton," head coach Paul Marco said. "Both will challenge for playing time as freshmen and each comes from a great family."
