soccer team defeats Robert Morris 1-0
Freshman forward Bryan Arnault (Clay, N.Y./ Cicero-North Syracuse) scored on a header 17:19 into the game, leading Binghamton (3-1) to a 1-0 win over Robert Morris in the opening round of the St. Franics Tournament on Friday afternoon. The win marks the third shutout that the Bearcats have recorded this season.
"It was a good, collective effort today," head coach Paul Marco said. "Overall we are starting to sense the group coming together. Our fitness level showed today. It was good not to allow a goal."
For Arnault, it was his second goal of the season. Freshman forward Dan Blank (Levittown, N.Y./ Division Avenue) was credited with the assist.
In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Gonet (Refrewshire, Scotland/ Trinity) recorded his third career solo shutout, going the entire 90 minutes and making four saves.
Binghamton outshot Robert Morris 14-9 for the game.
The Bearcats face host St. Francis on Saturday at 2 p.m.
