Binghamton men's soccer has America East Conference-best No. 36 RPI ranking in 2005
VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton men's soccer team has received a No. 36 RPI ranking out of 201 NCAA Division I programs for the 2005 season. It is the highest ranking out of the nine schools in the America East Conference, which placed six teams in the top 100.
Binghamton, which finished the season 12-4-5 and advanced to the conference championship game for the third year in a row, upgraded its schedule this year with non-conference games at Coastal Carolina, Hartwick, Lehigh and St. Bonaventure. The Bearcats also had neutral site games against Duquesne and Furman. In non-conference games, the Bearcats went 7-1-2.
The 2005 season was the first year that America East has ever placed six teams in the top 100 of the RPI. As a conference, it ranked No. 13 in the nation. Following Binghamton was Stony Brook (45), Vermont (67), New Hampshire (75), Boston (80) and UMBC (94). The Bearcats were 4-2-2 against the other five conference schools ranked in the top 100.
The No. 36 RPI ranking is Binghamton's highest since moving up to the NCAA Division I level in 2001.
