BU men's soccer making strides during spring season
Bearcats play Rochester Rhinos to scoreless tie, defeat Dominican 2-0

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The BU men's soccer team has begun its spring season 1-0-1 with a pair of matches that has the coaching staff pleased thus far. After playing to a scoreless draw against Rochester on March 17, the Bearcats downed Dominican 2-0 this past weekend.

Head Coach Paul Marco on the Rochester Game:

"Our back four played well and we got a great save at the end of the game to keep the tie! Our midfield moved the ball very well and improved throughout the match. Up front, Luke Halberg and Matt McCoy were very dangerous and did well
threatening their goal and backs. Jake Keegan secured the ball well and created a few great chances."

"Playing at Rhinos stadium. It was a great opportunity to play against one of
the storied professional soccer organizations. I thought we moved the ball well and defended collectively with good
team spirit."

Coach Marco on the Dominican Game:

"We moved the ball well through midfield. Our young guys did very well and are growing every week we see improvement. It’s been a very good spring for us so far and we are working together to make it one of our best. In terms of growth it could very well be our best, we are on that path!"

"Matt McCoy has had a great couple of weeks and is really effective in our attack. His fitness is improving and he will be even better once he’s fit. Jason Ruivo has settled into a back position and is increasing his range of passing as well as ground covered! Ryan Walter, Austin Hughes and Jake Keegan are doing well and will need to keep leading by example as we start to push harder!!!"
