Darkwah, Arnault sweep weekly America East Conference Honors

Junior midfielder Charles Darkwah (Toronto, Ontario) and freshman forward Bryan Arnault (Clay, N.Y./ Cicero-North Syracuse) have been named the America East Conference men's soccer Player and Rookie of the Week respectively. It marks the first time that one team has received both accolades in the same week since Northeastern did so on Oct. 14, 2002.

Darkwah, who has scored four goals in his last three games, netted a career-high two goals against Niagara last Wednesday and had another goal against Philadelphia on Saturday. Arnault dished out a pair of assists against the Purple Eagles and scored a goal against the Rams. The Bearcats beat Niagara 3-0 and Philadelphia 6-0.

Currently, both players are tied for the team lead with eight total points. Darkwah has four goals while Arnault has three goals and two assists.

The honors are just the latest development in what has turned into a banner season for the Bearcats (6-2-1), who are off to their best start since 1992.

"This is fantastic for Charles and Bryan," head coach Paul Marco said. "But it is also a reflection of how we are playing as a team. Overall, we are very excited about how things are going right now."

Binghamton has now received three men's soccer weekly honors from the America East Conference this season. Two weeks ago, sophomore goalie Stefan Gonet (Refrewshire, Scotland/ Trinity) was named the Rookie of the Week.

The Bearcats conclude a five-game homestand with a 4 p.m. game on Tuesday against Oneonta.
