VESTAL, N.Y.-- Junior forward Cameron Keith scored in
the 62nd minute, leading Binghamton (8-3-3, 3-1-0 AE) to a 1-0
win over Vermont (6-3-5, 2-1-1) in an America East Conference
men's soccer game on Saturday evening before a sold-out crowd
at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game, which was also televised
locally by Time Warner Sports, was the Bearcats' third conference
win in the past four games.
Keith's fifth goal of the season was set up by senior midfielder
Darren McAllister's corner kick midway through the second
half. The ball got to senior back Mark Wood who headed
the ball towards Keith. From there, Keith drilled the ball past
Catamount goalkeeper Roger Scully for his fourth game-winning
goal of the season.
Although Vermont turned up
the pressure after Keith's goal and wound up outshooting the
Bearcats 14-7, junior goalkeeper Jason Stenta needed to
make only three saves to extend his school record to 28 career
shutouts.
The attendance of 2,534 fans
breaks the Bearcats Sports Complex facility record of 2,078 fans
who came to the Binghamton-Vermont America East final on Nov.
17, 2008.
Binghamton heads to UMBC on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game. |
