BU men's swimming announces incoming class for 2008-09
Bearcats have notched fourth straight winning dual-meet seasons

VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton men's swimming and diving program has bolstered its roster for the 2008-09 season with the announcement of its five-member incoming class Friday.

Swimmers Nolan Slesnick (Austin, Texas), Joe Perez-Rogers (Shokan, N.Y.), and diver Nick Turner (Pelham, N.Y.) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Bearcats program. The trio will be joined by Dan Feeley (Rye, N.Y.) and Matt Weis (Lido Beach, N.Y.), who each have committed to the University and will compete this Fall.

Slesnick, a first-team all-state distance swimmer and USA Scholastic All-American, leads the list of Bearcat newcomers. The Austin, Texas, native was a multiple-event finalist at the Speedo Sectionals and figures to lead the distance lane for Binghamton.

"We will look for Nolan to compete with the best distance swimmers in the America East Conference," said head swim coach Sean Clark. "We expect him to be a quality student-athlete throughout his Binghamton career."

Perez-Rogers is a multiple-time Junior National Qualifier and Speedo Sectional qualifier. He will immediately compete among the team's top backstrokers and sprinters.

"Joe will be in the mix with our best backstrokers and sprinters," said Clark. "We anticipate that he will produce immediate dividends at the conference meet."

Turner, a USA Diving regional qualifier, will provide a boost to an already strong Bearcat diving corps that had its first NCAA Zones qualifier in 2007-08. He earned a 16th place finish competing for Fordham Prep at the NY State Federation HS Championships.

"Nick will balance out our diving squad, and will look to move up the conference rankings in the years to come."

Both Feeley, a freestyle swimmer hailing from the historic Badger Swim Club based in Larchmont, N.Y., and Weis, a member of Long Beach's winning 200-free relay at the NY State HS Championships, will provide valuable depth to a Bearcat roster that featured one of its deepest lineups in recent years in 2007-08.

"Both Dan and Matt have a great deal of potential and I think can develop into solid contributors for us."

The Bearcats open up the 2008-09 season with the annual Green and White intrasquad scrimmage exhibition meet on October 4 at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center.
