Binghamton swimming & diving competes in day one of the America East Conference Championship
Men pick up two third place relay finishes while the women place fifth and seventh

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Binghamton swimming and diving teams wrapped up day one of the America East Conference Championships at the Boston University Aquatic Center.

Freshman Anthony Foiles had a huge day on the boards for Binghamton placing second on the one-meter diving (493.40). Also placing for the Bearcats was senior Bob Nolte in fifth (459.90) and freshman Justin Mattison in eighth (413.15).

In the first days swimming events, the men picked up two third place finishes as sophomore Joe Perez-Rogers and freshmen Andrew Ellman, Erik Wagner and Josh Saccurato took third in the 200 yard medley relay (1:34.13) while sophomore Nolan Slesnick, freshman David Gleason, junior Jason Chen and sophomore Dan Feeley took third in the 800 free relay (6:43.07).

On the women's side, junior Brittany Detlef, senior Allyce Brand, freshman Tin Wai Siu and junior Amanda Ciccone claimed a fifth place finish in the 200 medley relay while in the 800 free relay Siu, freshman Caitlin Nelson, senior Taryn Ferrara and sophomore Maria Mazzoni slipped to seventh (7:44.60).

At the end of day one the men's team sits in third with 106 points, behind Boston University (122) and UMBC (111). The women are in sixth place with 52 points.

The Bearcats are back in the water tomorrow competing in day two of the America East Championships. Competition wraps up Sunday, February 28.
