Complete meet results

Despite several impressive individual performances, the Binghamton swimming & diving teams lost to Cornell in a dual meet on Tuesday afternoon at West Gym Pool. The men (4-3) lost 140-85 while the women (5-2) lost 128-109.

"We had a lot of outstanding individual performances today but Cornell definitely had more depth and that hurt us," head coach Benji DeMotte said. "Still, I'm real pleased with a lot of our efforts today."

Junior Chris McGuire (Essex, England/ Palmer IV) had perhaps the most impressive performance of the day, breaking the pool record in the 500 with a time of 4:43.84. The old mark of 4:44.40 was set by Matt Feinberg back in 1996. McGuire also won the 200 in a time of 1:43.71.

On the women's side, sophomore Huijue Cai (Shanghai, China) and junior Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China) each won two individual events. Cai won the 1000 (10:39.22) and the 500 (5:21.76) while Qu won the 200 IM (2:13.17) and the 200 fly (2:03.59).

In addition, the women's 400 freestyle relay team of Cai, sophomore Laura Linek (Canandaigua, N.Y.), freshman Stephanie Gerber (Middle Village, N.Y./ St. Francis Prep) and sophomore Hannah Clegg (Hampshire, England/ Cams Hill) set the school record with a time of 3:35.66. The old mark of 3:37.36 was set last season.
