VESTAL,
N.Y. -- The Binghamton men's and women's swimming & diving
programs have earned Scholar All-American Team honors from the
College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the
2008-09 academic year. The men ranked No. 23 out of 145 Division
I programs with a 3.16 overall GPA while the women tied for 84th
out of 205 programs with a 3.17 GPA. In order to earn CSCAA Scholar
All-America Team honors, a program must have at least a 3.00
GPA.
"We made it a point this year to be successful in the classroom,"
Binghamton head coach Sean Clark said. "It was our goal
to achieve recognition in the Athletic Department, on campus,
in the (America East) conference, and nationally."
Both Bearcat squads have already had a successful season in the
classroom. Binghamton posted the highest men's swimming &
diving GPA in the America East Conference this past spring. The
women, meanwhile, had 16 individuals post at least a 3.5 GPA
during the spring semester--which tied for the most in the conference.
"Our athletes worked hard this year," Clark said. "We
are proud to be recognized by the CSCAA as a Team Scholar All-American
program." |
