Binghamton men's swimming and diving ranked in Mid-Major Poll
Bearcats sneak into CSCAA Top-25 with 25th spot

VESTAL, N.Y. -- After falling to four-time defending Atlantic-10 champion, UMass by just five points in their season opener, the Binghamton men's swimming and diving program roared back with an impressive performance at Drexel last weekend. For their efforts the team was recognized by the CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Association of America (CSCAA) with a ranking in its Mid-Major Division I poll, as released on Thursday.

The Bearcats are ranked No. 25 in the poll following their, 168.5-129.5 win over No. 20 Drexel. Binghamton was most recently ranked in the poll last April, finishing the 2009-10 season in the 24th position. UMass, who handed BU its first defeat of the season by a five-point margin, is ranked No. 17 in the poll.

"Although we aim to be higher in the Mid-Major rankings, it's great to know that we are definitely a competitive program," head coach Sean Clark said about the poll. "We're swimming about as well as can be expected here in the early season. We'll continue to push hard in the pool and on the boards because we are not in any way satisfied with our accomplishments to date."

Joining Binghamton in the poll are fellow America East members UMBC and Boston University. UMBC cracked the top-10, finishing No. 8 while Boston University came in at No. 19. One other Bearcat opponent found themselves on the poll. St. Bonaventure, who Binghamton will face on Jan. 21, are ranked No. 18.

The Bearcats enter the waters again this weekend as they host Marist. The first race is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center.
